Week 4 EOC: My App

If I could create and design an app, I would create one that would be dedicated to all the fashion heads who sometimes have trouble finding an outfit to wear, whether it's in the morning, evening, or night. My app will manually scan and turn all your clothes into pictures which will then give you a wide variety of outfits. If you want a certain shirt to be worn that day, an outfit will be created to go along perfectly with that shirt, and if not just keep swiping until you find the right style. The app will allow you to give your personal style. For example, I usually change my style. I could be street one day, but the following day I could have more of a mature sexy style. The app will be fitted to your exact sense of style.

Week 3 EOC 2: My Demographic

The current demographics in today’s society are the Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the Millennials. Today’s baby boomers account for about 25 percent of the U.S. population but hold 75 percent of the nation’s financial assets and account for about 50 percent of total consumer spending As they reach their peak earning and spending years, the boomers will continue to constitute a lucrative market for financial services, new housing and home remodeling, travel and entertainment, eating out, health and fitness products, and just about everything else. Marketing: an introduction, Armstrong/Kotler Page 71. Generation Xers have a higher chance of divorce rates and higher employment  for their mothers made kids known as "latchkey kids". They seek success and are less materialistic. For Generation Xers, their family comes first. The category that I fall into is Millennials, which are born between 1977 and 2000. One thing that all Millennials have in common is the common and comfort use of technology, which I strongly agree. We just don't embrace technology, it's our way of life. However, other Millennials don't use technology as much as others. Marketers of all kinds now target the Millennials segment, from automakers to political campaigns. However, the Millennials are bombarded with marketing messages coming at them from all directions. And rather than having mass marketing messages pushed at them, they prefer to seek out information and engage in two-way brand conversations. Thus, reaching these message-saturated consumers effectively requires creative marketing approaches. Consider how the Barack Obama presidential campaign succeeded in reaching this group Marketing: an introduction, Armstrong/Kotler Page 73.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

It's amazing when companies or even rich people give out to those who are in need. It's rare to find it in companies who give out for good will, but other companies give out to make their company look good. The Body Shop is a British cosmetics and skin care company owned by L'Oréal. Like many who don't know. Not only does The Body Shop have standard beliefs such as: animal protection, human rights, and environmental protection, but The Body Shop has 25 Community Fair Trade suppliers which they all give back to. For example, The Body Shop uses Hemp seeds for many of it's products like their Hemp hand lotion, Hemp Chapstick, and Hemp Body Lotion. Many small family farms in England have been taken over by large agribusiness, making it harder for these farmers to earn a living from traditional crops. Diversifying into an alternative crop like hemp is helping small farmers to earn a living and helping to create job opportunities in the local economy. Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group

Star: "Ever since the smartphones entered the market, the apps have started dominating the web. Their ease of use, affordable cost, entertainment, and functionality has made the apps highly popular. These multifaceted apps have actually changed the way internet is used by people." (http://www.optimisedtech.com/2014/06/top-reasons-on-why-mobile-apps-are.html) Mainly everyone in the planet has a phone, and with a phone comes a lot of applications that help make your phone more valuable and fun. In contrast, the mobile device application market is the star dominance of the video game industry. You would think that a console such as Xbox one or Play Station 3 has dominance in the video game industry but unlike mobile games, it would be more harder to carry around your console to play on your free time. Therefore, mobile device applications are hit. They are more accessible and addicting.

Cash Cow: Everyone has their opinions in which console is by far the best. I could say mine is Xbox One but others believe Playstation 3 is dominant. Either or is a cash cow. Both don't offer many new features but they in fact do bring new features then previous consoles. Both have managed to sell out in stores and they will never get old, they will only modernize. "It’s the most controversial point on the list, but an important one: consoles connect people—in person—better than any other gaming system. Yes, smartphones and PCs bring a greater volume of players together, and both deserve credit for the impressive gaming networks they’ve assembled. But when was the last time you physically visited a friends’ house to play Words With Friends? Or lugged your PC to a buddy’s place for drinks, cigars and a session of World of Warcraft? Only the console consistently brings people into the same room." (http://time.com/3712633/video-game-consoles/)

Question Mark: CROCS! Now I remember back in the day when Crocs barley came out and everyone was so hyped about them. Stores tried to duplicate knock off versions since Crocs were so expensive, and for what? A foamed shoe with holes in it? They sold the comfort part, but sooner than later Crocs became a downfall to shoe history. However, Crocs are in the process of re-branding itself, and might succeed. "The shoes that polarized a nation are being polished up for a comeback. In 2007, Crocs clogs—the brightly-colored, hole-filled footwear—were both widely worn and wildly derided across the U.S. As quickly as they filled the shoe racks of Americans everywhere, and inspired hateful websites and scornful media takedowns, they seemed to disappear." Dog: The Wii U seemed to be important at first, but it suddenly lost it's appeal to everyone shortly after. The Wii U didn't have special new features that would excel the original Wii or any other console making it a dog in the video game console industry. "So when the Wii U came out, the hardcore gamers looked at it and said, “Bah, it’s just going to be another Wii, full of kiddie and casual games. And it doesn’t even have a Zelda, Metroid, or Smash Brothers game available, so I have NO reason to buy it.” (http://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2014/02/05/why-is-the-wii-u-a-failure/#5ed04d8d3e40)
